Expertise

Prof. dr. Willem-Jan van den Heuvel is a full professor in Information Systems and managing director of the European Research Institute of Services Science (ERISS). His research interests are at the cross-junction of software service systems and business process management with an emphasis on (global) networked enterprises. In particular, his expertise revolves around the following three major research themes: business process management, service engineering (including service governance) and legacy system modernization.

  • ERISS Inaugural Conference
        ERISS will be officially opened with the ERISS Inaugural Conference to be held at Tilburg University on November 30th, 2009. Currently, we are finalizing a tantalizing programme of world-class leaders in Services Science, which is to be announced over summer.

    Teaching

    Over the past ten years, I have been teaching several (under-/post) graduate courses in the area of software engineering, object-oriented modelling, business process analysis, service-oriented computing, software architecture and software project management. In addition, I have been coordinating and teaching courses at summer schools, research schools and MBAs, including SIKS, the Rotterdam Business School, the Antwerp Business School, and TIAS/NIMBAS.
