Expertise

My research focuses on the role of ideas and the responsibility of literary writers as intellectuals in the 20th century. Intriguing questions are: What role does literature have in Europe marked by increased mobility on a global scale? What strategies are left for narrative art and literary imagination in the age of globalization and mass-mediation? How do individuals find their way in societies that transcend national space? How can everyday subjectivity be connected to collective cultural memories? What is the relationship between literature, identity and the ability to understand and live with others sharing cultural roots. And how can the territory Europe be defended in the era of varied mobilities (migrants, asylum seekers, tourists and travellers)?
