  • PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Ghent University (Belgium). Dissertation research :was on preference modeling and multi-criteria decision analysis, two areas which are still at the basis of his current research on information systems for crisis management and response (ISCRAM).
  • MSc in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Ghent University (Belgium).

  • The ISCRAM2007 annual conference has been awarded the status of AIS Affiliated Conference by the AIS (Association for Information Systems), the premier global organization for academics specializing in Information Systems.

 

Teaching

I have taught a varity of IS courses at Tilburg University at the Bachelor and Masters level: Information Management, Information Management for International Business, Group Support Systems, Seminar Information Management, and Decision Support Systems.


B.A. van de Walle teaches the following subjects:

Teaching activities elsewhere

  • In 2007, I was a visiting professor at Harbin Engineering University (Harbin, China) where I have been teaching seminars on Information Systems for Crisis Management.

Other activities

  • Founded the international ISCRAM Community (http://www.iscram.org), which has organized sessions, tracks, international workshops and conferences and a PhD Summer School in this area in Europe, the US and China.

Editorial activities:

  • Senior editor of the board of the Journal of Information Technology Theory and Applications (JITTA)
  • Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management,the newly established International Journal of Service Sciences.

Review activities:

  • Expert reviewer or consultant for the American and Dutch National Science Foundation, the European Commission, the UN.
