On Chirstmas Eve, 2008, the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research decided to fund a research programme, submitted and led by Anton Vedder and Beate Roessler on the social dimensions of the value(s) of privacy. The funding amounts to more than 500.000 euros.

Education
Anton Vedder holds a doctorate from Utrecht University (1995). In his thesis, "The Values of Freedom", he analyzed conceptions of freedom put froward in recent philosophical theory and social and political debate. He holds further degrees in philosophy, history, theology, and German (Utrecht, Leuven, Groningen). For his studies in history in Leuven, he received scholarships from the Flemish Community and the board of the University of Leuven.
Career
Anton Vedder is affiliated to Tilburg University as from June, 1996. Previously, he was an assistant-professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam (1992-1996) and Utrecht University (1988-1992). After his graduation in philosophy in early 1985 and before his studies in Leuven in the fall of that same year, Utrecht University appointed him as a research assistant on a short-term project located at the Université Catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve. At Utrecht University, during his studies, he had had several appointments as a student-assistant.
