Executive Board

The Executive Board is the university’s managing committee. It is in charge of the university’s administrative affairs and management. The Executive Board is also responsible for the efficient financial management, personnel management, and health & safety, and other working conditions. The Executive Board is accountable to the Board of Governors.

mr H.M.C.M. van Oorschot Mr H.M.C.M. van Oorschot (1952), president of the Executive Board, is responsible for:

  • General administrative affairs and coordination:
    • Legal Affairs
    • Public and External Affairs
    • Univers
  • Organisational and community representation at the national and regional level;
  • Strategic policy;
  • Financial and economic policy, as well as well administrative organization;
  • General and technical support services, building and accommodation;
  • IT services, ICT infrastructure.
  • Personnel policy, organization policy, Arbo and environment;
  • Student policy, including Studium Generale and Podium Café;
  • Equal opportunities;
  • Identity, including Center for Science and Values.

From 1997 till his appointment at Tilburg University, Hein van Oorschot was mayor of the city of Delft, after he had been employed in trade and industry and in the national and various local governments. He read law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and worked successively at the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment and at the council of The Hague, lastly as deputy director of the Housing Department. The post of interim manager with the INB Bureau, which he filled from 1985 onward, took him to the Tilburg council, where he was - initially interim - city manager, until he became mayor of Delft. Until recently, he was chairman of the D66 management association and a member of the State Committee for Dualism and Local Democracy. At the request of the Minister for Education, Culture, and Science, he mediated between various institutions for Higher Vocational Education (HBO) and Delft University with regard to the transition of technical HBO programmes to Delft. He is the spiritual father of the successful Willem van Oranje lectures. Hein van Oorschot is married with Anne, they have three children.

Huub Dekkers In the execution of its tasks, the Executive Board is assisted by the secretary General, drs Huub Dekkers, and by a number of services and bureaus. The secretary has a coordinating task in policy-making areas and is responsible for the supervision of the management.
