International Relations at Institutional level
Tilburg University formulated her Mission Statement in the Strategic Plan 2005-2008 as follows:
Tilburg University is an inspiring university. It offers an environment that challenges and inspires students, staff, and alumni. It is authentic, committed to academic freedom, and ceaselessly seeking innovation. Through its excellent educational and research programmes in the field of the social sciences, Tilburg University means to contribute to society in a qualitative sense, both on national and international levels. It does so by preparing people for positions of responsibility in society and by contributing to socially sustainable solutions. Tilburg University is inspired by a rich tradition that accommodates scope for reflection and encourages a connection between science and philosophy of life.
The Strategic Plan is based on this Mission Statement. The Strategic Plan of Tilburg University proposes to vigorously continue internationalization policies in the next few years. In all academic programmes of Tilburg University, the international dimension must be profiled even more clearly. The spearheads of the Strategic Plan are the following:
- increasing international student mobility;
- intensifying international student acquisition;
- developing structural cooperative relations;
- reinforcing cooperation with nations in transition;
- internationalizing Tilburg University's service structure.
