RISE brings together a number of key players in the social sciences and economics. The institutions participating in RISE share the following characteristics:

• they have a profile focused on social sciences and economics,
• they have a strong and recognized position in relevant academic fields,
• they are involved in research and education of high academic and social relevance,
• they have a view on European affairs,
• they have access to relevant European policy circles.

The institutions participating in RISE do not formally represent their country in any context nor do they claim to speak on behalf of all European researchers in the social sciences and economics. They have joined forces to achieve the RISE objectives and will involve other higher education institutions in the field of the social sciences and economics in activities of RISE, when this is relevant to achieve the objectives of RISE.
