Explanation of the alterations in tuition fees 2010/11
As of September 2010 the tuition fees are going to be radically changed as a result of a amendment of the law. Which fee you need to pay depends on your nationality, your place of residence en which degrees you have obtained in Dutch higher education. The statutory fee for full time, part time and dual programmes is €1,672.00. The statutory fee for part time programmes of the department Religious Studies at the Faculty of Humanities or for a part time programme at the Faculty of Catholic Theology is € 1,115.00

Another new rule is that in case of multiple registration at the institutional fee for one or more programmes at Tilburg University or another Dutch institution of higher education, you will pay the institutional tuition fee for each programme separately.

Exceptional and transitional rules
The main transitional rules and rules of exception are:

  • Students (full time or part time) registered at Tilburg University in the academic year 2009/10 pay the same fee as in 2009/10, no matter which or how many programmes they register.

  • The fee a student pays in 2010/11 will be guaranteed until at least September 2013, in the case of uninterrupted registration for the same programes.

  • If you start with a second bachelor's programme or a second master's programme respectively, before you have obtained a bachelor's degree or a master's degree respectively (two programmes simultaneously), you are allowed to finish your second programme for the same statutory fee. Only if you are entitled to the statutory fee, of course.

  • If you are entitled to the statutory fee for one programme, and you register for other programmes at the institutional fee, you only pay the statutory fee once.

  • Students registered at Tilburg University in the academic year 2009/10 and do not meet the conditions of nationality and place of residence and/or have already a degre in Dutch higher education, pay the highest institutional fee only once, for all programmes they register for in September 2010.

    NEW

  • The administrative expenses to pay your fee in instalments, are 24 euro.
    The instalment (including the administrative costs) will be withdrawn from your acount at the end of September, October, Novemnber, February, March, April.
    Students whose instalments are not automatically withdrawn from their account, must pay the administrative costs (€24) on top of the instalments.

  • Students NOT registered at Tilburg University in the academic year 2009/10 pay the institutional fee for a bachelor's pogramme if they already have a bachelor's degree, and for a master's programme if they already have a master's degree.

  • Students NOT registered at Tilburg University in the academic year 2009/10 and do not meet the conditions of nationality and place of residence, pay the intitutional fee for each programme separately.

    Loan tuition fee

    Students from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland who are under 30, who are not entitled to full study grants (in Dutch: studiefinanciering) for a Dutch course in higher education can apply for a loan to pay their tuition fees. This loan is known as `loan tuition fees' (in Dutch: collegegeldkrediet) and is paid monthly. You repay the sum you borrowed after your studies.
