Renovation Library building 2010

In the second half of June the temporary removal and renovation of the Library has been started. The layout and design of the Library will be completely renewed, resulting in a study and work environment which meets the needs of our students and staff. Students and staff have been involved in the preparation of these plans.

Repairs elevator Library
As from 8 until 12 March the broken elevator in the Library will be repaired. During this week there will be some short periods of noise.

A chipknip revalue station is available again in the Library at level 1 on the centre SW1.

WANTED! Students to model for a portrait in the Library
The Library will, besides portraits of known scientists and librarians, also hang up portraits of students. Do you want your portrait to hang in one of the Library centres, come to G 237 on Thursday 4 March between 11:00 and 13:00 to make a picture. Be prompt, because a portrait of the first 16 students will be used.

Datastream PCs available again
The Datastream PCs can be reserved again via the reservation system. Furthermore, you can consult SDC on each Datastream PC as from 1 March. The Datastream PCs are located in the Library on level 1 on workplace numbers 12085, 12086 and 12087.

Delay delivery times depot requests
Due to a power failure in the Library, books, with the signs CBM, TF A, TF B, TF C and TF D, requested via depot on 17 February after 17:00 can be collected as from 18 February 13:00. Books requested before 17 February 17:00 can already be collected at the LIS Service Desk at level 1. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Plaster renovations till 24-2
Due to plaster renovations, the dust shots on level 1 and 2 are open. This will thus cause more noise than usual. These renovations will take place till 18 February at level 1 and till 24 February at level 2.

Construction activities in book depot
Due to work in book depot there will be no supply of CBM, TF A, TF B, TF C and TF D books on Wednesday the 17th of February. Depot requests submitted on Tuesday 16 February after 5 pm will be ready for pickup on Thursday from 1 pm on. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Collections ECO, SOC, LET and CIF available again
The collections ECO (Economics and Business Administration), SOC (Social Sciences), LET (Language and Literature) and CIF (Philosophy) are available again. ECO and SOC are placed at level 2. LET and CIF are available via depot request. Check for more information the collection overview.

The central heating on NM1 in the library does not work. We are working on a solution.

Collections SOC, ECO, LET and CIF temporary not available
LET collection available via depot request.

From 1 up to and including 5 February the collections SOC, ECO, LET, and CIF are not available. As from 6 February you will find the SOC and ECO collection on level 2 in open setting and the collections LET and CIF are in depot in the Library.

On Friday 8 January and upon possible delay Monday 11 January as well, reconstruction activities will cause sound nuisance due to drilling. Silent study places available on the ground floor of the Simon building (S 31).

Extra opening Warande building during weekend
Because of the Library renovation the Warande building is open during two weekends between 10:00 – 17:00. It concerns the silent study places without PC. The extra opening regards:

  • 16 en 17 January
