Access your M-drive outside Tilburg University
Coreftp offers you the possibilty to access your personal M-drive or other networklocations through a secure connection. You will also be able to upload or download files to and from you networkdrive.
System requirements
Your system should comply with the following minimum requirements in order to use CoreFTP:
- 16MB internal memory
- 4MB harddrive diskspace
- Windows 2000 SP3, Windows XP SP1 or Windows Vista.
1 Download CoreFTP
1.1 Download location
On http://www.coreftp.com/download.html you can download the program for free.
- Choose the Core FTP LE (light edition) version.
1.2 Save or execute from location
You can choose to save the file to your computer or execute the programme from the website.
- Continue at section 2.1 when you choose to save the file.
- When you have chosen for execution of the file continue at section 2.2
2 Install CoreFTP
2.1 Open saved file
When you have chosen to save the file to your computer, access the saved file through windows explorer. You can find the file under the name coreftplite at the chosen location.
- Doubleclick on the coreftplite icon.
2.2 Install saved file
Upon execution Coreftp will start to install itself and you will be shown the box as illustrated below.
2.3 Installation settings
- Choose next to continue installation.
- Press next to accept the license agreement.
- Press 'next' to continue installation.
You can choose to archive files that will be edited by CoreFTP. It is recommended to keep the yes option selected.
- Press 'next to continue installation.
- Press next to continue the installation.
- When you have gone through all the settings press next to start the installation.
Upon starting the installation a progressscreen will be displayed. No further action is required in this phase.
As soon the installation has succesfully been completed the message below will be displayed.
- Press Finish to complete the installation.
3 Configure CoreFTP
Before using CoreFTP a few settings should be set.
- Start CoreFTP through the icon on your desktop
- Or by selecting the shortcut in your startmenu through Start, Programs, CoreFTP.
3.1 One time settings
Upon starting CoreFTP the screen as displayed below will be shown.
- It is recommended to choose the yes option.
- Select the no option.
3.2 Connection to your M-drive
After saving your settings and preferences in section 3.1 you will enter the program itself and you can add networklocations.
- Click the Site Manager Button
- Click new site to add your M-drive
- Insert a name for your connection in the top right field called Site-name. This field has a free of choice box, so you can enter whatever you like.
- At the option Host/IP/URL enter the following text
- If you are a student: stuftp.uvt.nl
- If you are an employee: drcftp.uvt.nl
- At the option Username enter your UvT-username. For students this is s+6 figures or u+7 figures.
- At the option Password enter UvT-password. (Attention! Staff need to enter their Novell-password.)
- At the option Connection select AUTH TLS
- Choose to start the connection with the connect button
- Or close the window with the close button.
3.2 Connection to a shared network drive (staff only)
- Click the Site Manager Button
- Click new site to add a shared network drive
- Insert a name for your connection in the top right field called Site-name. This field has a free of choice box, so you can enter whatever you like.
- At the option Host/IP/URL enter drcftp.uvt.nl
- At the option Username enter your UvT-username.
- At the option Password enter Novell-password.
- At the option Connection select AUTH TLS
- Click Advanced
- Go to Directory/Folder
- At the option Remote Start Folder enter \\aquarius_shared_server\shared\
- Check Abs
- Click OK
- Choose to start the connection with the connect button
- Or close the window with the close button.
4 CoreFTP usage
4.1 GeneralYou can start CoreFTP through
- Start, Programs, CoreFTP.
Note the screen is devided in seperate sections.
- Section 1 will display the connection status.
- Section 2 will display the files present on your pc.
- Section 3 will display the files present at the current connected networklocation.
- Section 4 will display the transferstatus of your files.
4.2 Change lay-out
- By clicking on the eye-icon you will be able to adjust the lay-out.
4.3 Download documents from your network drive to your computer
In order to edit or open files on your computer you are required to download them first.
- This can be done by selecting the browse icon
- Select the document you wish to download.
- When you would like to go back to the previous folder, doubleclick on the folder at the top of the list.
- The selected file can be downloaded to the required location by clicking on the download arrow.
- The status of your download can be seen in the bottom screen.
When the text succes is displayed in the bottom screen your file is accessible on your computer.
4.4 Upload documents and folders from your computer to your networkdrive
Upon completion of editing your file and to send this file to your networkdrive, select the file on your computer by browsing to it in the middle left screen.
- When you have selected the appropriate file you can upload it to your networklocation by selecting the upload-icon
- Upon completion of the transfer you can disconnect the connection with your networkdrive by selecting disconnect in the File menu.
