| The LLM Research Master in Law provides the excellent opportunity for young academics to start a scientific career from a high level in a group of top-students. As being curious by nature, not taking everything for granted, being critical, nosy and thriving to get to the bottom of a problem, doing legal research perfectly fits my interests, aspirations and talents. Doing research at Tilburg University means working at a high level, with some of Europe’s best legal researchers, in an inspirational environment, supported by a well oiled organisation. |

For more information, visit the website Research Master in Law.
The LLM Research Master in Law offers talented law students the opportunity, after completing their Bachelor's programme, for in-depth, interdisciplinary study and/or specialisation in the law and in conducting legal research. One student may, for example, specialise in private law, criminal law, or administrative law, another may qualify as an interdisciplinary researcher of law. The programme focuses on methodological aspects of research, but it is equally important that the student is soon at home in a particular area of the law.
Research Master in Public Administration and Organizational Science
A FOCUS ON THE INTERACTION BETWEEN SOCIAL ISSUES AND THE PERFOMANCE OF PUBLIC ORGANISATIONS
The Research Master's programme includes three core components. Firstly, there are course components for the theoretical core themes, both in the field of Public Administration and Organisational Science. Secondly, there are course components for advanced methodological study, both in the field of philosophy of science and research ethics and in the field of methods of research. The third component involves policy-oriented or more fundamentally oriented academic research that the student will prepare for during and through the above-mentioned theoretical and methodological course components.

My primary reason for doing research at Tilburg University is the reputation and expertise of the research group with which I am affiliated and the freedom to the members of staff to pursue their interests within certain boundaries of course. I would say that being part of an active research group that is led by a professor who knows what he or she is doing is of primary importance for a successful research career not to mention having fun while doing research. |

Research Master in Language and Communication
THE EMPIRICAL STUDY OF HUMAN COMMUNICATIVE CAPACITIES
The programme covers the numerous ways in which written and spoken language is used for example, to persuade, inform, and exchange ideas. Because communication and the use of language are so tightly interwoven, we take an integrated approach. For example, when other, non-verbal cues are taken into account, understanding spoken language is made easier. Such cues may include facial expressions and eye contact. The interrelationships between language and communication have been further illuminated by developments in information and communication technology. These have opened up exciting new areas of research, forexample providing insightinto ways in which information from both linguistic and non-linguistic sources can be integrated in multimodal messages. The programme has four key focus areas:
You first receive instruction in all four areas, and then select one major and one minor subject. There is a strong emphasis on empirical research throughout.

Many people are thermometers, they follow the temperature; few are thermostates that transform the mores of society’ (Maarten Luther King). In the Research Master in Theology you will study texts and traditions that transformed the ideas and principles of popular opinion. The academic environment can be characterised as inspiring and ambitious. We strive to reach the highest international level in research and the disciplines of biblical studies and liturgy are internationally recognised as such. |
Structure of the programme
- Specialisation: This part allows the students to specialise in one subfield of theology, i.e. either Biblical Studies, Church History, Systematic Theology, Social Sciences/ Practical Theology or Religious Studies.
- Methodology: All students are required to attend a course in Philosophy of Science, a course in Methodology, and a course in Research skills.
- Interdisciplinary courses: All students are required to take two interdisciplinary courses that concentrate on the two foci of research: Tradition and Modernity. In addition, all students take an ‘interdisciplinary theme’ course.
- Ancillary course: All students take one additional course that either deepens their knowledge in their chosen field or broadens their theological horizons.
- Tutorials: These run through the two years, and provide
- a practical training in various research skills.
- A master’s thesis crowns the programme.
