Internships

In general students will opt for doing an internship at the end of their Master studies. However, it is also possible for students of the Bachelor International and European Law to do a short internship within the context of the Eindvak IER (course 620060). In both cases an internship is a great opportunity to discover future career options and to test the waters of (legal) practice. Although doing an internship is not obligatory for the Bachelor or Master programme in International and European Law, the department of European and International Public Law (EIP) encourages students to do an internship because of the great learning experience it will entail. For more information on available internships, please consult the TROM-L Dutch information onlyor visit the websit of the Student Service Centre on a regular basis.

Procedure for arranging an internship

Arranging an internship can be quite challenging. However, the pay off makes it worth the effort. In principle it is up to the individual student to choose the type of organisation with which he/she wants to do an internship. Nevertheless, International and European Law (IER) students are recommended to orientate upon (international) organisations which somehow deal with international and/or European (legal) issues. Suggested organisations are: Ministries, Provincial departments, inter- or non- governmental organisations, (international) law firms or companies and international research institutes. Students who wish to discuss their options for an internship can contact the internship coordinator of the department of European and International Public Law: Ms. dr. Nicola Jägers. However, it should be kept in mind that the department coordinator is there to only advise students in their search for an internship.
