Nov 24th 2006 | Seminar '´The science-practice gap in HRM´

Kurt Lewin stated “nothing is as practical as a good theory”. Despite this widely used and often quoted claim there remains a gap between science and practice in the field of HRM. The goal of this seminar was to give PhD candidates in field of HRM more insight in this gap and to relate this to your own
research. In lively discussions with some experts from science, practice, and current trends in bridging the gap, we explored how your research is related to this matter, and search for scientific as well as practical meaning for your studies.
We welcomed Prof. dr. Neil Anderson (UvA Business School), Dr. Martha Meerman (Lector HvA, AIAS), Drs. Ronald de Leij (Head Strategic Policy development AWVN) as guest speakers.

March 22nd 2006 | Seminar 'Publishing in HRM'
On this day we invited all PhD students close to or in the field of Human Resource Management to join us for a session on "Publishing in the field of HRM". As we all know, many of the current and starting PhD Students are expected to write, submit and hopefully publish scientific articles within the granted time of their PhD project. To inform and prepare PhD students for this process, but also to get tips and tricks to effectively think and act in ways you increase the likelihood of the publication of your work, Professors Paul Jansen (Free University Amsterdam), Deanne den Hartog (UvA Business School) and Dr. Marc van Veldhoven (Tilburg University) contributed to this first pHResh event.

Nov 3rd 2005 | Dutch HRM Network PhD Conference
In 2005 a PhD Consortium was organized a day before the start of the 2005 Dutch HRM Network Conference. With the successful PhD meeting preceding the 2001 HRM network (organizers: Anne Keegan & Paul Boselie) in mind, again the PhD consortium gave 18 PhD students the opportunity to present and discuss their research in a stimulating and supportive environment with PhD students in all different stages of their research. Besides testing ideas, getting to know other PhD students in the field and meeting professors, the aim was also to get an overview of the research projects that are being conducted by current PhD students in HRM.
The professors Denise Rousseau (Carnegie Mellon University, USA), John Purcell (University of Bath, UK), Ricardo Peccei (King's College London, UK), Jaap Paauwe (Tilburg University), Karin Sanders (Twente University), Jan Kees Looise (Twente University) participated.
At this PhD conference the pHResh phd network was founded. What a great day!

ABOUT [PHRESH]
Welcome! In order to provide PhD students from all countries in the field of Human Resource Management with a central virtual platform to get informed about each other's projects and get in contact with each other, we launched the PHRESH (pronounce as 'fresh') PhD Network. The idea behind a network is that PhD students themselves take their own initiative to organize something. The [PHRESH] platform provides the flag and the webspace to make your announcements to all members. It's your network so use it! See you around.
