Tilburg School of Economics and Management

History

The history of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration dates back to 1927, the year in which the R.K. Handelshoogeschool was founded. Professor Cobbenhagen is considered to be the founding father of this faculty.

Up until the nineteen seventies, economical education and research in Tilburg was practiced with a Dutch touch. Descending from that period are many well known professors, like Stevers, Bosman and Schouten.

These days the faculty is much more oriented on the international stage. The research center CentER is even very famous in the world of science. A new generation of economists like Lans Bovenberg (macro economics), Eric van Damme (game theory), Harry Huizinga (macroeconomics), Jan Bouwens (accounting) and Xavier Martin (organisation) keep the reputation of this faculty at a high level.
