Tilburg School of Economics and Management

Lab

The Lab is a specially equipped room (extra power, extra network connections, extra cooling, alarm, and strict key management) in the laboratories section of floor 7. Together with the staff laboratories it forms a technical cluster at the East end (restaurant side) of the floor.

K704 is two cabinet spaces large, one single room. It can contain about four workspaces for PhD students, who work on technical projects. The room is not intended for student-assistants related to courses, not for student-assistants without a need for special IT equipment, and not intended as generic working space for occasional (student) visitors, regular educational purposes etc.

Equipment

Students allowed to use the Lab are linked to a supervisor or project manager, who is responsible both for the equipment handed to the student, and the student him/herself. There is no generic equipment in the lab. For generic PCs, students can use the various labs around campus. Only specialised, specifically installed "personal machines" are available, assigned to a student for the duration of their project. When students arrive for the first time, they get plain hardware and a CD-ROM. When they leave, they explicitly wipe all disks of the machine and hand in the hardware and the CD.
