Study Trips
Tilburg School of Economics and Management designates a fixed budget (€ 15,000/yr) to subsidize the student organizations on study trips abroad. The Education Office is responsible for selecting the student organizations and distributing the subsidy accordingly. Consequently, departments will not be offering any extra subsidy to student organizations. Rather, each department will provide a staff member to supervise the International Orientation Course especially because this is a requirement to qualify for the grant. Each student organization may only apply once per fiscal year.
Please see below for details on the procedure of the subsidy for study trips.
In order for student organizations to qualify for a subsidy, they need to fulfill the following requirements:
1. A minimum of 10 participants per Group must be enrolled in Tilburg School of Economics and Management .
2. A faculty staff member needs to participate in the trip.
3. Fulfill the International Orientation Course: A final report needs to be
evaluated and approved by a Tilburg School of Economics and Management faculty member.
4. If visiting universities and companies, students need to be willing to provide a short presentation of their faculty and distribute PR-material.
Once approved, the grants are distributed as follows:
Per participating student
a MAXIMUM of € 25 for destinations in Europe
a MAXIMUM of € 90 for destinations outside Europe
Tilburg School of Economics and Management will guarantee 55% of the Total amount calculated for student participation. Therefore, if 10 students participate in a trip to Spain, the faculty will guarantee € 137.50 calculated as follows:
10 x € 25 = 250 x 55% = € 137.50
Required participating staff members are financed as follows:
Europe: € 500 per instructor (max. 2 instructors)
Outside Europe: € 750 per instructor (max. 2 instructors).
This amount is fully guaranteed. It is up to the student organization how they choose to distribute this amount in budgeting their trip. However, the student organization is responsible to cover the costs of the participating staff member.
If the Tilburg School of Economics and Management grant is not sufficient to cover all costs, the student organization should finance the residual.
The grant is paid after completion of the trip and after turning in the following documents:
International Orientation Course report
A final financial statement
List of all participants and instructors
If the actual costs were to be lower than the calculated in the budget, the grant per student will be reduced accordingly.
